These Terms of Use explain how SwapSitters works, what we provide, and what we expect from members. By accessing or using SwapSitters, you agree to these Terms.
In connection with your application to use SwapSitters, we may obtain a consumer report as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This report may include information related to criminal history and driving records. In accordance with Colorado law, records older than seven years will be excluded where applicable, and sealed or expunged records will not be considered. You have the right to request a summary of your rights under the FCRA and to dispute inaccurate information.
SwapSitters is an online platform that connects families who voluntarily choose to exchange child care using a care-credit system.
SwapSitters provides:
- Tools to connect and communicate with other families
- Matching features and community guidelines
- Care-credit tracking for all exchanges
- A community platform to post care requests and engage with other families
SwapSitters does not:
- Provide child care services
- Employ, supervise, or control caregivers
- Act as an agent, insurer, or guarantor
- Oversee or participate in care exchanges
All swaps are voluntary arrangements made directly between families.
To use SwapSitters, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Complete the required application, background check, and reference verification
- Maintain an active paid subscription
Failure to meet SwapSitters’ safety protocols may result in denial or removal from the platform without refund.
SwapSitters currently offers one platform: Children Platform. Approval for one platform does not automatically grant access to the other.
At launch, SwapSitters supports exchanges for:
- Overnight dog care
- In-home visits for dogs and cats
- Dog walking
- Hourly child care
- Transportation to and from school or activities for children
SwapSitters may modify, add, or remove supported services at any time.
Care on SwapSitters is exchanged using care credits, not money. Credits have no cash value. child care credits are not interchangeable.
Credits are earned by providing care and redeemed by receiving care. Credits may be used with any approved family. Credits may not be sold, transferred, or used outside the platform.
SwapSitters may adjust credit values, categories, or rules as the platform evolves.
SwapSitters may suggest matches based on preferences, lifestyles, and circumstances. All matches are recommendations only.
Members have full control over who they swap with. Members may swap with any approved family, matched or not. You are encouraged to communicate, meet, and make decisions that feel right for your family.
All subscribers complete background checks through a third-party provider. Depending on platform access, this may include:
- SSN trace
- County and national criminal checks
- National sex offender registry check
- OFAC check
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check for child transportation
- Verification of three personal references
Please understand:
- Background checks are point-in-time only
- They do not guarantee future behavior
- SwapSitters does not monitor conduct after approval
- Your financial responsibility for background check incidents
SwapSitters is not responsible for missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information provided by third parties or members. Parents remain responsible for their own judgment and vetting decisions.
By using SwapSitters, you agree to:
- Communicate honestly and respectfully
- Follow all applicable laws and safety standards
- Provide attentive, responsible care
- Carry legally required auto insurance, a valid driver’s license, and operate a reliable vehicle when providing transportation
- Exchange medical or veterinary contact information and care preferences before each swap
- Use the platform only for approved exchanges
You are solely responsible for the care you provide and receive.
Caring for children involves inherent risks. By using SwapSitters, you acknowledge that:
- You voluntarily assume all risks related to care exchanges
- SwapSitters is not responsible for injuries, damages, losses, or disputes
- SwapSitters does not provide insurance coverage
All swaps occur at your own discretion and risk.
Transportation services are provided solely by individual members. Drivers are not employees or agents of SwapSitters. Drivers must carry legally required auto insurance. SwapSitters does not verify insurance coverage. SwapSitters is not responsible for transportation-related incidents.
Subscription fees provide access to the SwapSitters platform and features. Fees are non-refundable. SwapSitters does not guarantee matches, swaps, or earned credits. Unused credits are not redeemable for cash.
SwapSitters may use private Facebook groups as part of the community experience. These groups are an extension of the platform. By participating, you agree that:
- These Terms and Safety Guidelines apply
- Groups are moderated by SwapSitters administrators
- SwapSitters may remove posts or members at its discretion
- Violations may result in suspension or termination
Facebook is a third-party platform not controlled by SwapSitters.
Members agree to:
- Communicate respectfully
- Protect the privacy of others
- Avoid harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate content
- Use community spaces only for SwapSitters-related purposes
Violations may result in suspension or termination.
Members may not:
- Exchange money for care
- Use credits outside the platform
- Provide care while impaired
- Leave children unattended
- Misrepresent experience or background
- Use SwapSitters for emergencies
- Share private information without consent
- Leave children with unapproved individuals
- Drive without proper insurance or a valid license
All care exchanges must be based on kindness, patience, and respect. Abusive, physical, or harmful discipline is prohibited, including hitting, spanking, restraining, or intimidation. Appropriate physical contact must be non-violent, age-appropriate, and related to caregiving needs only.
Health & Illness: Parents must disclose relevant health information, allergies, medications, and care instructions prior to any swap.
Medical Emergencies: Members agree to seek appropriate emergency care and contact a parent or guardian as soon as possible.
Reporting Concerns: Safety concerns or policy violations may be reported to SwapSitters and may affect continued platform access.
Members must follow responsible firearm storage practices in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-12-114 when care exchanges occur in their homes. Firearms must be securely stored and inaccessible to unsupervised juveniles.
SwapSitters may suspend or terminate accounts for safety concerns, policy violations, loss of community trust, or excessive cancellations. Unused credits may be forfeited.
Disputes between members are their responsibility. Members agree to attempt mediation before court action. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SwapSitters from claims arising from platform use. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado.

SwapSitters exists to support community-based care exchanges—not to replace parental judgment. Thoughtful communication, mutual respect, and shared responsibility are what make swaps successful.
